The event once again focused on addressing common health topics that are often sensitive or challenging for patients to discuss openly. Talks covered skin cancer, mental health, and red flag symptoms of headaches. The Korean UK Nurses Association (KUNA) then offered a valuable perspective on the NHS through a nurse's eyes, helping attendees better understand how to navigate and access healthcare services in the UK. The final presentation, delivered by the Korean UK Pharmaceutical Association (KUPharm), gave practical guidance on the community pharmacy services available and how to make the most of them.
Following the lectures, a series of interactive health check-up stations were made available to encourage direct community engagement. The KUNA Booth offered general observations including blood pressure, blood glucose, and BMI checks, while the KUPharm Booth provided over-the-counter medication advice and guidance on the Pharmacy First scheme. A pop-up Dentist and Oral Hygiene Booth made its debut this year, and the Academic and Education Booth combined a medical school admissions Q&A with hands-on activities, including ultrasound demonstrations. Attendees were also able to put their questions directly to the day's guest speakers at the dedicated Q&A booth. These stations were organised through the collaborative efforts of professionals from KUMA, KUNA, and KUPharm, once again reflecting the multidisciplinary spirit at the heart of Health Awareness Day.
Health Awareness Day remains a testament to what a community can achieve when its healthcare professionals come together in service of one another. KUMA extends its heartfelt thanks to every speaker, volunteer, and attendee who made this year’s event possible, and looks forward to continuing this vital work for many years to come.
